Other Events

All Church:

Copies of the Church’s 2008-2009 Proposed Ministry Budget are available at the Foyer Welcome Center and the Information Center across from the Media Library. If you have questions about the proposed budget, two forums are being provided in Room 101 on Sunday, September 7, from 4:30-6 pm and Wednesday, September 10, from 5:30-7 pm. A vote on the budget will occur, without further discussion, during the morning worship service on September 21.

Our regular Wednesday night activities and Wednesday night meals started on Wednesday, September 3. Plan on finding your place on Wednesday evenings in a discipleship class or any of our children’s and student activities each week.

First Baptist Weekday Preschool is continuing to enroll children, twelve months through Kindergarten, for the fall. To learn more about the school, please call (972) 512-3895 or email the school at weekdaypreschool@fbcc.org.

Pray for our Nation is a new group that will be meeting to pray for our very important elections ahead. This group is open to anyone who would like to be a part of this special time of prayer on the first Thursday morning of each month from 10-11:30 am in Room 107.

Missions:

The Mary Hill Davis State Missions Offering which supports missions in the Metroplex and across the state. Our offering goal for our church is $20,000. Ingathering Sunday will be September 28 in the morning service. Our church has given so generously to this offering in the past. As we give generously, the unchurched of Texas can become part of God’s harvest. Envelopes are in the pews and prayer guides are available at the Welcome Desk.

English as a Second Language has openings for teachers and helpers on Wednesday nights starting September 3. No teaching degree is required and you will be trained to teach conversational English. Please attend an informational meeting this Wednesday, August 27, in House C at 6 pm if you are interested in serving in this ministry. Bible Fellowship:

An important step in becoming involved at First Baptist Carrollton is our “Discover” Class for new members. This class provides you with a basic introduction to our church family. Since we have members from many church backgrounds, this class is designed to clearly explain who we are and what we believe as a church. This four-week class will begin September 7 during the 11 am Bible Fellowship hour in Room 108. To attend this class, please contact the Adult Discipleship Office at (972) 512-3840 or email.

Worship Ministry

Worship Choir & Orchestra rehearsals are now in session on Wednesdays at 6:30 and 7 pm, respectively. Our Singing Christmas Tree Kick-off will be Wednesday, September 10. Forerunner Ministry:

The Forerunners (55+) are starting a Tuesday Morning Bible Study. Matt Fry is teaching “The Life of Christ” on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-10:30 am in the Parlor. The study is open to anyone who would like to come.

The Forerunners (55+) will take a morning trip on Friday, September 19, to Tour Texas Stadium. Cost will be $7 per person to tour the facilities, plus $2 for bus. Call the Forerunner Office at (972) 512-3815 to reserve a bus seat and to get information.

Student Ministry:

See You at the Pole will be on Wednesday, September 24. All students are encouraged to gather around the flag pole of their schools to participate in a prayer and worship emphasis. Our students will be wearing their Journey T-shirts to school on this day. If you do not have a shirt, they are available to purchase for $12. You may order your shirt online at www.fbccstudents.org. The order deadline is Sunday, September 14. All high school and middle school students will worship together that night at 6:30 pm in the Family Center. High School Worship. On Sunday evenings, all high school students meet in the Family Center at 6 pm for a time of worship and Biblical teaching. Our goal in providing this service is to assist you in being open and available to the leading of the Holy Spirit in your life. The Biblical teachings are based around helping you navigate the social pressures of high school and to build community among your peers.

On Wednesday nights, Collide is the place to be! Middle school students meet in the Family Center at 6 pm for a fun-filled time of games and fellowship with your friends. During this time we will begin to learn the purpose of corporate worship as well as study God’s Word and pray for our schools. This service will be your time to chill and we hope to provide the fuel you need to continue walking with Christ in your community. Everyone is welcome, bring your Bible!

Children's Ministry:

The fall semester of First Steps Preschool Worship begins this morning. It is designed for prekindergarten and kindergarten children. The preschoolers are invited to come learn biblical truths with their physical, emotional and spiritual development stages in mind. Parents, please take your children to the kiosks in the Worship Center foyer at the designated time shown in the Morning Worship section of this bulletin. Parents will pick up their children in their Bible Fellowship rooms at 12 pm.

Bible Drill will begin soon for all 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. A meeting for new drillers and their parents will be Sunday, September 21, at 4 pm in Room 203. Parents of returning drillers can come at 4:30 pm to pick up new materials. For questions or for more information, please call the Children’s Ministry Office at (972) 512-3850.

Mothers Of Preschoolers (MOPS) Cost for the year is $84. The first meeting is Monday, September 15, at 9:30 am in the Parlor. Child-care is by reservation only and is also available online. Deadline for the first meeting is midnight tonight. Please invite friends and neighbors to participate. This year's theme is “The Adventures of Mothering.” Come share your adventure with other MOPS. We meet one Monday morning a month for breakfast, speaker, craft and small group sharing time while the children enjoy our MOPPETS child-care. The next King’s Kids class will begin Sunday, September 7. King’s Kids is a five-week class offered during the 9:30 hour for young Christians who have made a profession of faith. Register by calling the Children’s Ministry Office at (972) 512-3850. Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 3.
