GENERAL SESSION
Understanding Federal Health Care Reform
In March 2010, the President signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (HCERA) of 2010. Virtually every American will be affected as this is phased in over the next several years, some for the better and some for the worse. This presentation will provide the background and overview of the law, discuss its impact on those who currently do not have insurance and those who do and on U.S. business, and look at the timeline for implementation. It will also address some of the potential issues that individuals may encounter as the government moves toward full implementation of the legislation and some of the possible solutions to those issues. Finally, it will look at what both individuals and businesses need to do, starting now, to prepare for full implementation.
